In your first session I will need to collect a little bit of information about what brought you here today. This a simple assessment to try and tease out what is impacting on you and how you are coping. In the session I get to know you and what makes you the sort of person you are. I think it’s a bit unrealistic that I could get to know you in an hour so that’s why over the time you seen me I continually assess and look for issues that may be damaging your quality of life.
If not in the first session but in the second I want to work out with you how we can make things better. I come from a solution focus school of thought and strongly believe that if we can start to get some wins, no matter how small, we can get you in a better place to manage issues. I would like to develop a “therapeutic plan” with you over our time together that you yourself design and own.
We will negotiate together how many sessions are needed to address the issues. Sometimes this can be done really quickly and we can get you back on your feet. Other times it takes a bit longer.
